HubSpot's flagship conference has a new name. After 15 years as INBOUND, the event returned to Boston as UNBOUND in September 2026, with announcements set to shape how education teams use HubSpot over the next year.
To save busy admissions and marketing teams time, we have pulled together the headlines that matter most, what they mean in practice, and how to get ready.
Why INBOUND became UNBOUND
HubSpot explained that the INBOUND name was rooted in a methodology from an earlier internet era. Today, growth spans marketing, sales, service and operations, and AI is changing how all of those teams work.
The new name reflects HubSpot's shift to what it calls an "agentic customer platform": a CRM where AI agents work alongside your team, powered by everything HubSpot knows about your organisation.
The big theme: context is everything
The event's central message was simple. AI is only as useful as the information it can draw on.
HubSpot CEO Yamini Rangan put it clearly on the main stage: "The true magic lies not within the models. It is fundamentally rooted in the context of your business."
HubSpot also shared research that will feel familiar to many education leaders:
- 90% of businesses are now using AI, but only 6% are seeing transformational results
- The organisations achieving the best results focus on a handful of AI use cases done well, rather than trying everything at once
- HubSpot warned that AI working from poor data can make results worse than using no AI at all
HubSpot calls this foundation "Growth Context": the shared understanding of your audiences, your organisation and how your team works. For education, that means clean enquiry data, accurate lifecycle stages, a clear brand voice and well-defined admissions processes.
The headline announcements
A self-updating Smart CRM
HubSpot's redesigned Smart CRM captures information from calls, emails and meetings and writes it straight into your records. It can also spot new details, such as a changed phone number in an email signature, and suggest updates. You stay in control of which changes happen automatically and which need approval.
Why it matters for education: less time spent logging calls with parents and applicants, and more confidence that every record reflects the latest conversation.
Context Home
Context Home is a new dashboard that shows how complete your business context is. It gives you a score, highlights gaps and lets you manage your brand details, customer data and business profile in one place.
Why it matters for education: it gives your team a clear, practical checklist for making your portal AI-ready, instead of guessing where the gaps are.
A rebuilt Breeze Assistant
Breeze Assistant has been rebuilt to move from answering questions to getting work done. Ask it for a report, a campaign plan or a proposal, and it can pull in the right agents to create it for you. It now remembers context across sessions and is available in the HubSpot mobile app.
Why it matters for education: a head of admissions could ask for a quick summary of this week's enquiries by year group, or a Ma could request a first draft of an open day campaign plan, and get it in minutes instead of hours. With mobile access, busy teams can check in between tours, meetings and events without being tied to a desk.
Agent Hub and Agent Builder
Agent Hub gives you a single view of every AI agent working across marketing, sales and service. Agent Builder lets you create your own custom agents by describing what you need in plain language. Agent actions use HubSpot Credits, so it is worth planning which jobs will give you the best return.
Why it matters for education: imagine an agent that helps follow up open day attendees, or one that flags applicants who have gone quiet. These are the kinds of repeatable jobs Agent Builder is designed for.
Marketing Studio 2.0
Marketing Studio has been rebuilt as an end-to-end campaign command centre, with three agents that work together:
- Campaign Agent builds a full campaign from a prompt or document, including the brief, KPIs, landing pages, emails, forms and automation
- Content Agent drafts blogs, landing pages and social posts, guided by answer engine optimisation (AEO) recommendations so you show up in AI search
- Nurture Agent personalises each marketing email at the moment it is sent, tailoring subject lines, content and CTAs to each recipient using their CRM history and your brand voice
Why it matters for education: recruitment campaigns for open days, application deadlines and clearing could go from idea to launch in a fraction of the time, with nurture emails that feel personal to every family or learner.

Sales, admissions and revenue tools
For teams managing enquiries and applications through pipelines, there was plenty to get excited about:
- Prospecting Agent monitors more than 40 buying signals and drafts signal-based outreach
- Mobile Notetaker captures conversations in real time, whether on a video call or face to face
- Deal Progression supports your team through every step of the journey, from first enquiry all the way to enrolment. It turns conversations into CRM updates and drafts follow-ups for you, so you always know the next step and nothing is missed
- Revenue Hub and Revenue Agent help with the final stages of the journey, such as signing contracts, capturing payments and keeping on top of fees, all connected to your CRM
Why it matters for education: Mobile Notetaker could be a super tool for open days, school fairs and campus tours, capturing key details from every conversation so no enquiry slips through the cracks.
New advertising channels, including ChatGPT
HubSpot announced what it describes as the first CRM integration with ChatGPT Ads, alongside a Microsoft Advertising integration covering Bing, Copilot, MSN and Outlook.
Why it matters for education: more prospective students and parents are researching options through AI tools. These integrations help you reach them there, and connect that activity back to enquiries and enrolments in HubSpot.
HubSpot Work
HubSpot also introduced HubSpot Work, a shared workspace where teams and AI can collaborate on projects, documents and forms, all connected to CRM data.
Why it matters for education: planning an open day or an enrolment campaign often means juggling spreadsheets, email threads and separate project tools. HubSpot Work brings that planning into the same place as your enquiry and applicant data, so marketing, admissions and senior leaders can see progress at a glance and spend less time chasing updates.
What should education teams do next?
It is easy to feel the need to activate everything immediately. Our advice is to take a steady, focused approach:
- Check your foundations first. Clean data, accurate lifecycle stages and healthy workflows will make every new feature more useful. Context Home will help, and so will a simple health check.
- Pick two or three priorities. HubSpot's own research shows the best results come from a handful of focused use cases. Start with the one that saves your team the most time.
- Keep people at the centre. AI can handle the admin, but the relationships families and learners build with your team are what make them choose you. As Yamini Rangan said on stage, "in the age of AI, human intelligence has never mattered more."
- Plan your credits. Many of the new agents use HubSpot Credits, so map out where AI will add the most value before scaling up.

FAQs
Is UNBOUND the same event as INBOUND?
Yes. UNBOUND is HubSpot's annual conference, previously known as INBOUND. The name changed in 2026 to reflect HubSpot's focus on AI and growth across every team, not just marketing.
Are the new features available in our HubSpot portal now?
Many of the announcements are live for eligible customers or rolling out as part of HubSpot's fall 2026 releases. Some features are launching in beta first, which means you can opt in early and start testing them before they are released to everyone. A super admin in your portal can join available betas from the Product updates page in HubSpot. Availability depends on your subscription tier, and some features use HubSpot Credits. We are happy to help you check what is available, choose which betas are worth trying first, and get them set up.
Which UNBOUND announcement should education teams look at first?
We recommend starting with Context Home and the self-updating Smart CRM, because they strengthen the foundations every AI feature relies on. From there, Marketing Studio 2.0 and Mobile Notetaker are strong next steps for recruitment and admissions teams.
UNBOUND showed just how much AI can take off your team's plate, from logging calls to building whole campaigns. The education teams that see the biggest wins will be the ones who get their foundations right and choose their priorities with care.
We would love to help you work out where to start. Let's explore what UNBOUND's announcements could mean for your school, college or university.
