HubGem has been named the national winner of 'Great Place to Work 2023' in a prestigious awards ceremony held in Central London.
Facing fierce competition from well-established brands and large corporations, we proudly emerged as the national winners of the prestigious 'Great Place to Work 2023' award. This remarkable achievement holds even greater significance for us as a small, fully remote business that has just celebrated our fourth year of business.
After gaining first-hand experience with the frustrations of disjointed systems while working in marketing and admissions teams at various educational institutions, I founded HubGem in 2019. Now, fast forward four years, and HubGem has blossomed into a team of 19 talented individuals located across Lincolnshire, the UK, and Europe with the majority working remotely.
Throughout this journey, we have dedicated ourselves to fostering a strong emphasis on employee wellbeing and cultivating a thriving company culture.
I believe that as a company we have two key audiences who are equally as important: our customers and our employees. Our culture is the service we provide to our team members, and much like the services we offer to customers, we should always strive to offer the best possible experience.
Throughout the past four years, our team has collaborated closely to introduce a multitude of creative and supportive initiatives aimed at prioritizing the happiness and fulfillment of our employees. From granting paid time off for wellness activities to providing subscriptions to meditation apps and organising engaging monthly fitness challenges, we are revolutionising the very essence of our company culture and leaving a lasting impact.
I am incredibly proud to be recognised alongside so many big names in UK business for our commitment to employee engagement and company culture. The culture at HubGem is truly special and our team's happiness has always been a top priority - our vision has always been to create an environment that fosters a strong sense of belonging and purpose. I want to show other businesses that growing a successful company whilst prioritising being a 'great place to work' is possible, and in 2023 a great culture is essential for attracting and retaining employees.
Operating as a small business with a mostly remote team in a niche field, gaining recognition for our impact can be challenging. With our company headquarters based in a small Lincolnshire village, we lack the grand premises and presence of larger businesses. Therefore, being named the Great Place to Work UK in the most prominent category at this prestigious event, surpassing companies with much larger budgets, holds immense significance for our team.
The Engage Awards are the UK's only Awards programme celebrating achievements across the entire spectrum of customer and employee engagement. 2023 saw the Awards receive a record-breaking number of entries from across the UK.
The 'Great Place to Work' category recognises organisations that have put an effective strategy in place that has helped to create a working environment with improved employee engagement and experience. The implementation of this strategy must show measurable results.
